Iridium Extreme 9575

  1. Iridium has global coverage better than Globalstar or Inmarsat.  This is because Iridium uses a large network of low earth orbit satellites in polar orbits.  The nature of the network helps assure that (eventually) a satellite with a sufficiently high look angle will peer down even into deep mountain valleys or canyons.  If you are travelling in the polar regions, only Iridium currently offers coverage.
  2. You can text your GPS location from your Iridium 9575 satellite phone.  The text essage will include a link to an online map that allows your friends to see your location.

A built-in GPS receiver in the new Iridium 9575 satellite phone provides your exact location at a glance.   You can text or email your location to any address — directly from the phone.  That makes the Iridium 9575 satellite phone a powerful safety tool.

  3. SOS button:  With a single press, you can quickly and easily notify one (or more) of your friends via email or text that you have a personal emergency.  The message will include your GPS location. If you desire, the SOS button can also simultaneously initiate a phone call to the number of your choice.
  4. Extreme weather resistance:  Some of our clients have informed us that competitors have told them that the 9575 is waterproof down to 10 feet deep! That isn’t true but the Iridium 9575 EXTREME satellite phone is remarkably weather resistant and boasts an IP65 ingress rating.  With its weather protections in place, it passed a very aggressive liquids test where water jets were projected from a 6.3 mm nozzle against the phone’s outer enclosure with no harmful affects during a 3-minute exposure involving 12.5 litres per minute.  It’s unfortunate the Iridium 9575 satellite phone isn’t waterproof, but Outfitter Satellite offers watertight cases.
  5. Diamond tread ergonomic grip.
  6. Leave a bread crumb trail:  With a few quick changes to the default settings, you can configure your Iridium 9575 satellite phone to automatically transmit your GPS position at equal time intervals.  This could be very helpful to rescuers trying to find you (with the clock running) if you “disappear” in the wilderness.  That will give your loved ones piece of mind.  Professional web-based tracking services are available for more sophisticated tracking applications.
  7. Optional AxcessPoint Hotspot lets you send and receive email on your PC, Mac, iPhone, Android phone or Blackberry.  The software included with the AxcessPoint lets you browse the web, too, but  at 2400 bps web browsing is pretty painful.
  8. Docking stations are available for indoors or below decks use where an external mast antenna or low-profile car antenna is necessary.  Outfitter Satellite recommends the BEAM Potsdock for the Iridium 9575 satellite phone because it has robust features including Bluetooth support, a telephone port for use with conventional wired or cordless phones, an optional backup uninterrupted power source (RST055), and optional secure web-based tracking services.
  9. Up to 4 hours of talk time or 30 hours of standby time are available on a single charge.  If you are travelling to locations without ready power, Outfitter Satellite offers battery packs with solar panel options for recharging your Iridium 9575 satellite phone.
  10. Outfitter Satellite’s Trade-Up Program that lets you trade in an old but operable Iridium 9505a or Iridium 9555 satellite phone towards the purchase of a new Iridium 9575 satellite phone.  Call us for more information on the trade-in value of your satellite phone, and if you want to purchase one of our certified used satellite phones please visit our online store.  (Our trade-in program can change without notice.)
